Belt Feeders

RULA design, manufacture and supply belt feeders for a wide range of applications

Description

Rula has a range of in-house developed and fabricated belt feeders designed specifically for efficient and reliable materials handling in various industrial applications. Our belt feeders are perfect for transporting bulk materials such as coal, conditioned ash, iron ore, and other minerals, ensuring smooth operations and minimal downtime.

Rula has designed belt feeders to handle the full range of particle properties, from sidewall feeders for fine products such as pulverised fuel (PF) to heavy-duty apron feeders for high impact from large particles and rocks.

Rula not only fabricates its belt feeders in-house, but is able to design the complete system, including upstream and downstream assemblies, to ensure elegant flow under all design and operating conditions. Belt feeders often form a crucial component in a bulk materials handling system, and proper design is essential to ensure there are no blockages, and that the feeder has sufficient power to operate under all conditions, amongst others.

Design Features

Rula is able to adapt to specific operational requirements for its belt feeders, by the inclusion of various design features should they be required, including:

- Variable speed drives to handle a range of capacities.

- The addition of a belt scale integral to the feeder to allow accurate mass measurement. When combined with a VSD this allows closed loop mass control in your process.

- Adjustable profile plates for discrete changes in volumetric capacity.

- Upstream and downstream infrastructure to ensure all design and operating conditions are taken into consideration using methodologies developed by Jineke and others. Examples include:

  • Silo or bin analysis to design the feeder silo or bin to achieve mass flow (first-in-first out), funnel flow (first-in-last-out), or expanded flow (a combination of the two).
  • Appropriate inlet and outlet sizing to prevent bridging and ensure flow under all design and operating conditions.
  • Upstream hopper to initiate bulk material radial stress fields to limit exposure to high loads from initial fill.
  • Vertical movement devices in the feeder to initiate bulk material radial stress fields.
  • Upstream and downstream isolation devices, including spile bars, gate valves, clamshells, etc.
  • Tramp material devices such as grizzlies can be added upstream.

- Explosion-proof casings for flammable products, including pressurisation if required.

- Transfer point skirts for dust containment.

- Appropriate belt scrapers, belt shakers and other cleaning devices, depending on the specific product parameters (e.g., dry, sticky, etc.).

- Appropriate wear protection.

- A full range of instruments and protection devices including pull keys, belt speed measurement, material-on-belt sensors, blocked chute detectors, belt slip sensors, etc.

- Standalone or integrated control systems, depending on the project requirements.

Material of construction specifications
