Medupi Power Station ash overland conveyors
The Ash Overland Conveyor system conveys Boiler Bottom Ash (BBA) from the Submerged Scraper Conveyors (SSC) of each of the six units, Conditioned Fly Ash (CFA) from the fly ash conditioners, or a mixture of both, from the overland link conveyor discharge to the North Ash Dump, a remote on-surface long term disposal facility. The system consists of an overland, extendable and shiftable conveyor system and two crawler mounted ash stackers. In summary the system included the following conveyors: • Ash Overland Conveyor OC1 and OC2: 1.7km each at 2100T/h • Ash Extendable Conveyor EC1 and EC2: 3.9km each at 2100T/h • Ash Shiftable conveyor SC1 and SC2: 0.69km each at 2100T/h The structural scope included the design and construction of all conveyor support structures, access walkways and staircases, and transfer houses.
