Radial Telescopic Stacker
// System Overview

Flexible, high-capacity material stacking.

The Radial Telescopic Stacker combines radial movement, telescopic conveyor extension and luffing capability, allowing material to be distributed across a large stockpile area while minimising the need for additional mobile equipment. The stacker is mechanically engineered around the operating loads associated with the conveyor, telescopic boom, crawler system and supporting structure, with key mechanical systems including the belt and pulley arrangement, rack-and-pinion telescoping drive, crawler bogies, hinge assembly and specialised stacking return-idler arrangement.

Telescopic Conveyor

A heavy-duty rack-and-pinion drive continuously repositions the discharge point as the stockpile develops.

  • Dual rack-and-pinion drive arrangement
  • 30 kW geared electric drive with integrated motor brake
  • Heavy-duty fabricated rack system

Crawler-Mounted Mobility

A heavy-duty crawler bogie system supports the machine and allows it to be relocated and positioned around the stockyard.

  • Hydraulic drive motors for controlled machine movement
  • Heavy-duty planetary final drive
  • Capable of inclines up to 30°

Radial Stacking & Slewing

The crawler configuration allows the stacker to slew radially around its operating position.

  • Combines with telescopic extension and luffing
  • Positions the discharge point over a wide operating envelope
  • Significantly increases available stockpile area

Luffing System

Hydraulic cylinders control the conveyor elevation, adjusting discharge height as the stockpile develops.

  • Hydraulic luffing cylinders control conveyor elevation
  • Discharge height adjustable to stockpile requirements
  • Combines with telescoping to progressively build the stockpile

// Return-Idler System

Specialised Telescopic Return-Idler System

The telescopic conveyor incorporates a specialised stacking return-idler arrangement designed to accommodate the changing conveyor geometry as the boom extends and retracts. The design includes both chain-and-duct and scissors-mechanism concepts to manage the return idlers during telescopic movement; the chain-and-duct arrangement incorporates a self-cleaning expanded-metal bottom section to assist with material management.

// Operating Modes

Integrated Hydraulic & Electrical Systems

  • Relocating — crawler drives reposition the complete stacker
  • Slewing — controlled crawler movement provides radial positioning
  • Telescoping — the electric rack-and-pinion system extends or retracts the conveyor
  • Luffing — hydraulic cylinders adjust the conveyor operating angle and discharge height

By integrating crawler mobility, radial movement, luffing and telescopic extension into a single machine, the Radial Telescopic Stacker provides a highly adaptable stockpiling solution that can be engineered to suit the material characteristics, required throughput, stockpile geometry and site-specific operating requirements.
